How to get help/What to expect

Welcome to the College of Ag Sciences Tech Help Page. This page is run by the college's Center for Information Technology which is located in Shepardson 227.

Help with college technology.

  • You can contact us by dialing 1-2444 (1-aggi) or send an email to CAS_aghelp@mail.colostate.edu

  • Desktop Support: A student , under our supervision, provides desktop support to the staff and faculty of the college. If you need help, send an email or call.

  • Vacation message:

    • For Outlook on the Exchange server clients, select "Options" in Outlook Web Access".
    • Non- Outlook on Exchange clients, to forward your email, check your email quota: configure lamar, simla or holly client.
  • DISK WIPE: Before sending your computer to surplus, let us wipe the disk with a program that ensures none of your files can ever be read (Disk wiped to Department of Defense standard).

Getting Connected

  • Your eId: The university eId will become more important in your day to day activities at the university in the future. The eId consists of a elogin and epassword. This is identical to your lamar login and password. The hope is in the future (distant future now) more services will will be provided by the college and university with a single logon.

  • On campus - The college has a 100 megabit LAN throughout the college with a couple of minor exceptions (Weed Research, Insectary and ARDEC). We also offer 802.11 wireless connectivity in Shepardson, Plant Sciences, Clark, Animal Sciences and NESB. You will need the university VPN client installed to use it (Select here for more information).

  • Off Campus

    • Outside provider (AOL, Comcast, Qwest, FRII, etc.) - If you are accessing the university from off campus, it is best to run the VPN client. (List of high speed providers)

    • Modem Pool - You can sign up for the modem pool and connect to the university for $48 a year. (Modem Pool information)

    • Long distance dial-up - If you have signed up for the modem pool and have a telecomm long distance account, you can use your PIN to access the modem pool long distance for $0.10 per minute. Set your new connection to the following (where "PIN" is your five digit long distance PIN):

Classroom assistance

  • Have questions about using technology in the classroom? Using WebCT? Checking out a projector, laptop, digital camera (still or video)? We can do these things for you.

Blocked computers

  • Periodically, computers in the college become infected and try to infect other machines on campus. As these become known, we identify and make an attempt to locate and clean them. If they can't be located, they are blocked from the network. This is a list of computers we are blocking as of today 11/14/2007
