Connecting your email client

Setting up an IMAP email

Use the following instructions to change your client from pop for campus supported email clients. Use the written instructions for Mozilla to all the other clients. See ACNS web page for more information.

Mozilla | Thunderbird | Outlook Express | Outlook

Mozilla

Open you account setup by selecting "Mail & Newsgroups Settings". Select "Add Account"

Set up an email account

Type in your full name and your first.last email address.

Select the "IMAP" radio button and lamar.colostate.edu as the incoming server.

Type your account login name

Accept the account name.

Finish. Test it to see that it is connecting. In the server settings for your "POP" account, deselect the automatically download email from server.

Thunderbird is the stand-alone Mozilla email client with a few slight differences. Let the following screens take you through this process.

Outlook Express (Same thing only a little different)

Finally, if you are using the full version of Outlook available in Office:

Click Tools->E-mail Accounts

Click “Add a new e-mail account”

Click Next

Click IMAP

Click Next

Type in your name

Type in your E-Mail Address (First.Last@ColoState.EDU)

Use lamar, simla or holly depending on where you get your mail

Type in your User Name for lamar, simla or holly

Type in your password and check “Remember password”

Click Next or More Settings…

If you click More Settings… then you can type a name for your account (See below)

If you clicked More Settings… (from above)

Type in a name for your Mail Account or accept the default

Click OK

Click Next (from above)

Click Finish
