Colorado State University Garden Wins Top Award at Home and Garden Show

The Colorado State University Cooperative Extension exhibit won the President’s Award for most educational garden at the 47 th Colorado Garden and Home Show, held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, February 11-19, 2006. More than 70,000 people attended the show. The “Garden 4 Seasons” demonstrated how to create and maintain a garden that is beautiful in all four seasons. It was sponsored by CSU Cooperative Extension, Denver Water and Green Industries of Colorado. Douglas County horticulture agent Jennifer Bousselot and her volunteers, along with Jim Klett, CSU landscape horticulture specialist and professor, led the design and construction of the garden this year. Included in the garden were displays showing best practices for proper plant health care and seasonal maintenance guidelines. A separate garden displayed Plant Select varieties, which are chosen each year for their suitability for the Rocky Mountain region. Colorado Master Gardener volunteers from CSUCE offices around the state were in the garden to answer questions on a variety of horticulture topics and give out free Fact Sheets written by CSUCE specialists and agents.
