"This sale is a great opportunity for our students and program to work together with some of the country's most historic ranches," said Jim Heird, director of teaching and outreach for the Equine Sciences program. "Students are gaining first-hand experience from top leaders in sales promotion, advertising, management, catalog design and pedigree research in the industry. They also gain hands-on knowledge of preparing horses for a sale."

Average for the 2006 sale was $5,861. The highest seller, Whiskeys Chick Stick consigned by Major Cattle Co., was purchased for $15,200. Another high-selling 2-year-old, Dox Stylish San trained by a student in the training class, brought $7,500.
The 2007 Rocky Mountain Horse Expo will feature Chris Cox and Stacy Westfall. These two popular clinicians will arrive fresh from testing their skills at the 2007 Road to the Horse competition. Expo doors open at 9 a.m. Friday, March 9, and continue through 5 p.m. Sunday, March 11.
