Dr. Donald E. Johnson

Colorado State University and the College of Agricultural Sciences mourn the death of Donald E. Johnson, a professor in the Department of Animal Sciences. Dr. Johnson died on June 29th, while hiking with members of his family on Horsetooth Mountain. His sudden death has shocked and grieved his many friends, neighbors, colleagues, church members and extended family.

Dr. Johnson was a professor in Animal Sciences and had over 35 years of experience in teaching and conducting research centered in the area of ruminant nutrition and, more recently, greenhouse gas emissions from livestock. His academic work has resulted in more than 300 published research papers and inspired a Dave Berry cartoon.

Mr. James L. Henry

On April 26th, CSU lost one of its biggest advocates and supporters, Jim Henry.

Jim, a prominent Longmont cattle feeder, graduated from Colorado State in 1940 from the Department of Animal Sciences. Jim was a dedicated Ram fan, a tireless ambassador for Colorado State, and a pillar of our campus, his community and the state of Colorado. Jim will be remembered with respect and affection by all who were privileged to know him, and we are extraordinarily grateful for the spirit and leadership he gave to our university for so many years. He will be dearly missed.

The Henrys ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Jim and Nadine Henry Animal Sciences Fund. These memorial contributions are being accepted by the CSU Foundation for the Jim and Nadine Henry Animal Sciences Fund, Longmont United Hospital Foundation or HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, and may be sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
