Plans Underway for 2009 Spring Branding Banquet

With world-renowned faculty working on world-renowned research, the Department of Animal Sciences has frequent opportunities to partner with great industry leaders and teach many motivated students. The Spring Branding Banquet provides the Department with a chance to recognize these students, alumni, and industry partners.

To be held on April 10th, the Spring Branding Banquet is put on by the Animal Sciences Executive Council. Made up of one representative from each of the Department’s student groups, the group organizes the event from beginning to end. The hand-selected chair of this year’s Council is Vienna Brown, a Junior pursuing a degree in Animal Sciences and minors in both Business and Biomedical Sciences.

“Vienna has done an amazing job of coordinating the efforts this year, it takes a tremendous amount of student energy to pull this event off,” explains the groups faculty advisor, Shannon Archibeque-Engle.

“We have really great talent who have brought excellent ideas to the table. The increased diversity of students paired with involvement from faculty, staff, and parents motivates us to host the best Spring Branding Banquet yet,” says Brown.

The event includes a dinner, awards ceremony, and silent auction. Proceeds from the silent auction are shared equally between the Council and Heifer International, a charity selected by the Council for their contributions toward feeding the world and growing agricultural industry.
