L’Ecole Superieure d’Agriculture de Purpan
Toulouse, France
This is a 4 or 8 week summer course depending on the student’s choice. The first four weeks emphasize coursework taught in English. The second four weeks is a home-stay field experience that is individually selected based on student interest. Colorado State University students join students from other US universities for a total of 40-45 US students each summer. If 10 or more students from Colorado State select this option, there is a possibility of a CSU faculty traveling with the students to France and spending two weeks with them to get them settled.
Courses are taught in English and are coupled with field trips and a French language course. The program focuses on European cultural and agricultural economics and animal production and economics. Also offered is one of the following two tracks of study: (a) French and EU plant and crop productions plus food safety, health, and technology; or (b) French and EU viticulture and enology, including technical approach to vine growing and wine making plus marketing of wine. French is taught at beginning level and at least one advanced level.
