Alternative Spring Breaks
Horticulture and Belize – Spring Break 2009
BETTA BELIZE IT!
The Colorado State University Horticulture Club spent spring break 2009 on an alternative international field experience in Belize!
The hosts at Barton Creek Outpost, a creek side paradise, provided great food, led the way through exciting excursions, and widened the tropical scope.
The group experienced an array of things that not only broadened their horticulture experience and knowledge, but also expanded cultural awareness.
This trip applied classroom knowledge to the real world and the students were awestruck by the beauty of pure untouched nature.
While working in the jungle they were able to observe the unique flowers, trees, and exceptional plants up close and personal!
Time was spent exploring ancient caves and Mayan ruins with the locals and examining spectacular cave formations and Mayan remains.
Students traveled to remote locations to admire and swim in amazing waterfalls and went horseback riding through thick tropical broadleaf forests.
The next volunteer trip is being planned now for next spring break- join Horticulture Club today!
